Do you ever get lost in the words feeling like you have read the same sentence multiple times or get frustrated because reading black and white doesn’t allow you to retain information?
Everyone has a learning style.
What is a learning style?
Your personal learning style is different from anyone else's, and can be one method or a combination of learning methods! Meaning, this is how you comprehend, process and retain information.
When I was a freshman in high school I struggled with reading material and staying awake. Instead of yelling at me and getting frustrated with me my mom assessed my learning style.
What we found was that while studying different subjects, I retained and comprehended information differently in each subject thru different methods. For English I could read poems, stories etc and have no issue evaluating the material. However, when it came to math and science I had to use a little bit of all the learning styles to comprehend and retain the information, but once I did understand the material I could go full speed ahead!
If you're like me and you get frustrated and down on yourself, don't give up. Ask for help. There's nothing wrong with you! Please know that everyone learns differently.
Take a deep breath!
The next time you study try using different color markers and pens, or even different colored paper. Maybe even try reading out loud to yourself, or google the material and see if there is a YouTube video that discusses what you are trying to learn. I watched a lot of Bill Nye the science guy!!!
